coBuilder enters the Finnish market

coBuilder further strengthens its presence in the Nordic region
by entering the construction market in Finland

BIM in Finland

In Finland, like elsewhere in Europe, the construction industry has been undergoing the challenging transition to digital throughout the recent few years. Finland has been among the BIM pioneers and holds a firm position as one of the leading countries in BIM adoption. Since introducing the BIM mandate in 2007, the Finish construction industry has been very successful in adopting the openBIM standards and creating useful BIM Guidelines to structure the transition to digital.

‘Finland has been on a long journey to introduce BIM and even though they have joined the course rather early, all industry players realize that they are still to benefit further from the digital revolution that is going on’ – says Jan Karlshøj, Chairman of the Nordic Chapter of buildingSMART International.

In order to better meet the massively increasing interest towards coBuilder’s tools and services, coBuilder announced the establishment of a Helsinki-based sales and marketing support entity in Finland. Being locally represented ensures working closely with the Finnish construction industry players and integrating the focus on their market and regulatory needs into the company’s general digitalisation strategy.

goBIM goes to Finland

‘Many construction product manufacturers in Finland now have the opportunity to become early adopters of BIM and implement the collaborative approach to working with digital data in their processes. Along with the benefits from assuming an industry leading position in terms of process innovation, coBuilder can help manufacturers become valuable partners to both design and construction teams who have already taken the step towards BIM. That is why goBIM is just what the doctor ordered for manufacturers in Finland’ – says Lars Chr. Fredenlund, CEO of coBuilder.

coBuilder’s tool goBIM which will be the first coBuilder product offered at the Finnish market, allows construction product manufacturers to share their data in a structured way, that is based on European, national, industry-wide, legal and market-specific requirements and standards. This enables manufacturers to share their data with their customers in the languages and BIM formats that they require. Then designers and contractors can export the manufacturers’ data to formats such as IFC or they can link it directly to models in Revit, Navisworks and ArchiCAD.

ProductXchange for accurate as-built data

Pekka Riikonen, coBuilder’s localisation partner in Finland.

‘The construction industry is striving for increased productivity from BIM and this cannot be achieved without accurate information. There is no way of achieving this goal without having manufacturers on-board and enabling contractors to provide accurate open ‘as-built’ data that we can all understand. That is why I have seen great potential for coBuilder’s tool ProductXchange for contractors in Finland.’ – explained Pekka Riikonen, coBuilder’s localisation partner in Finland.

Having started the journey of digitising the construction sector in Norway 19 years ago, today the product data experts coBuilder are stronger than ever. With two new markets entered and three prestigious awards won, as well as important strategic partnerships with giants such as SKANSKA, Knauf Insulation and Wienerberger signed off and all achieved within a year’s expansion, I am very optimistic about coBuilder’s new endeavour in Finland.said Nick Tune, CEO of coBuilder UK.

coBuilder’s BIM data products ProductXchange and goBIM will be offered as commercial services in Finland from the 1st of January 2017.
