Construction Products Regulation
Ever since it went into effect in 2013, the Construction Products Regulation (CPR) played a game changing role for hundreds of thousands of manufacturers selling in Europe. This is part of the European Union policy towards common presentation of the construction products property information, effectively providing a “common technical language” for all product properties. This greatly helps transparency and facilitates all actors involved in the building life cycle.
The new regulation made it mandatory for all manufacturers of construction products covered by harmonised standards to draw up Declarations of Performance (DoPs). These are created based on particular tests which are carried out by EU approved notified bodies.
How does this affect you?
You need to draw a separate Declaration of Performance for each product you wish to sell on the EU market
Translate your DoPs to each separate EU member language of the countries you wish to sell to
Edit your DoPs according to all legislative changes
Distribute the prepared documents
coBuilder saw the need for a simple solution addressing these challenges and created the DoPcreator. This is an innovative, easy to use online tool, that helps you draw your Declarations of Performance. It is designed to serve as comprehensive tool ensuring your CPR compliance while saving you a significant amount of resources in the meantime.
By using the DoPcreator you:
Save time through its easy to use interface, that will guide you through the process, with full consideration of the specifics related to your particular product
Save efforts in keeping track of legislative changes. The system will inform you every time a change in the legislation occurs and allow you to easily edit your documentation accordingly.
Save financial resources related to the translations of your Declarations of Performance. We have designed the system to allow 100% accurate one-click translations.
Stay safe from mistakes related to conventional document templates, lack of knowledge and associated errors.
Save technical resources for document distribution and hosting. DoPcreator
will automatically distribute and host your digital documentation.
We have designed the platform to deliver time and resource efficiency to any manufacturer selling products within the EU. For more information feel free to visit the DoPcreator website.
What is BREEAM?
With over two decades of history, BREEAM
(Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Methodology) is the world’s first and leading assessment method for sustainable buildings. BREEAM is an indicator for best practice within the construction industry, ensuring each building protects and exists within the earth’s natural limits, resources and biodiversity.
The BREEAM philosophy does not only cover the environmental level, it also awards buildings that are economically efficient, operating at low levels of sustainability-related risk and creating value through innovative cost-reducing approaches. At the societal level BREEAM assesses whether a building meets the requirements of its occupants and allows them to live and flourish without creating hazards to their health and safety.
By issuing certificates, BREEAM has created a framework for individuals, organizations, governments to become progressive leaders in the built environment where everybody is aware of the sustainable performance of each building at any stage of its life. BREEAM Schemes cover:
Buildings in use
Why is BREEAM compliance important for your business?
It is an established means of getting market recognition for the low environmental impact of buildings
It is your way of communicating to each actor within the supply chain that you are specifying, installing, producing and managing products according to the best environmental practice.
inspiration to find innovative solutions that minimize the environmental impact
BREEAM is a yardstick that goes above and beyond legal requirements
Is a tool scientifically proven to help reduce running costs, improve working and living environments
BREEAM is a standard that demonstrates progress towards corporate and organizational environmental objectives
How does coBuilder help you get BREEAM certified?
coBuilder’s ProductXchange software incorporates a number of tools allowing you to strictly control the use of products and substances. By adding a BREEAM filter to the platform you can restrict any material usage that can jeopardize your project’s certification, thus, ensuring you built highly energy efficient buildings with premium market value.
The ProductXchange system is a comprehensive tool that serves as a hub for all product and substance data, storing information from players up and down the supply chain. By using the system you gain a complete control over the product usage in your project.
BREEAM promoting sustainable building across the globe
One of the reasons BREEAM certification and compliance is important for the future of the industry is that BREEAM has a special mechanism of developing country-specific BREEAM Schemes. They are adapted to the local social, cultural, climatic etc. conditions, translated in the local language with local assessors and aligned with the country’s building regulations. By adapting the BREEAM UK, European or International schemes to the local context and by interpreting the BREEAM Core Technical Standard for the local context. Being prominently represented in the UK, BREEAM is already the preferred scheme for a number of other national Green Building Councils across Europe, including the Netherlands, Norway, Germany and others.
